Inspired by Indian celebrations, designed for modern gifting.
Some of our earliest memories are tied to something sweet. A box arriving at the door because someone was getting married. Mithai being passed around when a new baby was born. A plate of sweets waiting for guests during Diwali. Something carefully wrapped and carried with you when visiting family.
Growing up around Indian celebrations, sweets were never just sweets. They meant something good had happened. They were a way of saying welcome, congratulations, we thought of you, come and celebrate with us. And long after the last sweet had been enjoyed, the memory of who gave it to us, and the moment we shared remained.
ANARA was born from wanting to hold onto that feeling.
We take some of India’s most recognisable sweets and reimagine them as beautifully handcrafted candles, creating something nostalgic enough to feel familiar, yet special enough to keep. Because ANARA isn’t simply about recreating mithai. It’s about recreating what mithai represents: celebration, family, generosity and togetherness.
The name ANARA was inspired by the Hindu word anar, the pomegranate. Filled with hundreds of individual seeds held together within one beautiful fruit, it represents abundance, togetherness and the many people and memories that make a celebration meaningful.
That’s why beneath our name sit the words:
Indian sweets have been gifted for generations. We’re simply giving that tradition a new form.
ANARA can welcome guests to your wedding, celebrate Diwali, a new baby, birthday or milestone, or simply tell someone, I thought of you.
But sometimes, there doesn’t need to be an occasion. We all know the feeling of reaching for that one cheeky Indian sweet simply because we fancy it. We wanted ANARA to carry that feeling too.
A little indulgence just for you. Something beautiful to light at the end of the day simply because it makes you happy. Because while gifting to others is part of our tradition, sometimes you deserve to be the person you’re celebrating too.
Whether gifted to hundreds of guests, someone you love, or kept entirely for yourself, we hope every ANARA candle becomes part of a memory. Celebrations may last a day, but the feeling behind a meaningful gift can stay with us for years.
